Through my business, bloom mentoring, I’ve had the honor and privilege of doing 1:1 coaching sessions with agency people around the country over the past several weeks. I thought you may find it informative to hear what people at a variety of levels in agencies ranging from small to large in size have on their minds.
Key themes have mainly been related to the current Covid WFH situation:
-How to stay in touch/help direct reports
-How to advance my career while working remotely
-How to best manage up
-Sustaining positivity/managing anxiety
-How to continue being inspired and how to inspire others
More general topics also included:
-Balancing personal passions & career goals
-Struggles with delegation
-Growing as a leader
No surprise, this is a time where the reaction to the current situation varies greatly by person.
It’s a time where reaching out and being there for each other is important.
This week, the topics are starting to shift to concerns around returning to work. e.g., safety, lack of childcare options, transportation, (especially in New York), how will it work, etc.
Listening to your people is key now as is transparency, empathy and the need for frequent communication of what the vision is for tomorrow and for the future.
